Screen II

"Screen II", 2009. Watercolour, acrylic, oil and tea on canvas; 102 x 137cm. SOLD

The "Screen" series (I, II and III) uses the silhouettes of frangipani trees against the sky.  Photographed by the artist on a residency in Malaysia in 2006, they are the basis for exploration not so much of the leaves and branches themselves, but of the shapes they make and the spaces between them...

The paintings were exhibited in Tim Craker's solo exhibition "Ten-Part Net Trap" at Jackman Gallery in 2010.
